I used to nanny for this kiddo that LOVED money. During my first week on the job, I took notice to his collection of Chinese yuan and American US dollars. Since we were still getting to know each other I thought this would be a great way to bond. So, prior to starting this job, I had just visited the Philippines. Realizing that I had leftover money, I decided to give him what extra Peso's I had from the trip. He appreciated it so much that he brought it to show and tell at school the very next day.
During that summer we became good friends that learned a lot from one another. We saw each other every day until I moved to Chicago 6 months later. I still keep in touch with the family and thought it would be a fun surprise if I still continued to mail him different kinds of currency. Last November I went to Spain and when I arrived back in the US I immediately mailed him a handwritten letter and a couple of Euro's. He and his family did so much for me and I still enjoy connecting with them, even if it's once a year. This December I will be traveling to Japan and will be sending some love in Japanese Yen form to my favorite kid.
