Mushrooms! (Not what you think ;)

A couple weeks ago I went to a neighborhood party with the man I'm seeing. At the party, I was very happy to run into a local mushroom farmer. I met this farmer for the first time last year at a similar community event, and I was blown away by his story. He only grows four types of mushrooms, all organic, and it's clear he has so much love for his craft. The three of us must have chatted for an hour, and I kept going on and on about how curious I was about one of the mushroom sorts he grows called Lion's Mane. Apparently these mushrooms taste like lobster, look absolutely beautiful, and are also incredibly hard to get. This farmer, for example, only sells his Lion's Mane mushrooms directly to local gourmet chefs rather than at farmer's markets - and he doesn't have any right now anyway. This mushroom to me sounded like my dream delicacy.

Anyway, fast forward a few weeks and my date from the party surprised me with ... drumroll ... a package of dehydrated Lion's Mane mushrooms that he ordered off Amazon! It was such a sweet, heartwarming, and unexpected surprise, and I can't wait to try them out in a few of my favorite recipes!
